What are the age requirements for
parents adopting in Ethiopia?
At least 25 years of age up to 50
years of age. Older parents up to
age 55 will be considered case by
case and for older children.

long does it take?
Usually it takes about 3
months to get your papers collected
to send to Ethiopia. After that it
is about 4-6 months until you
receive a referral. And then about
2-4 months until you travel. You
will be in country about 5-7 days |

referral?
A photo , medical information and
some background information about
the child. |

How much does it cost?
The adoption cost is approximately
$10,747, the travel cost about
$3,950 for two persons. |

Are the children tested for certain
diseases?
Yes- HIV, Hep B, Rubella and
Syphilis |

Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia

Will escorting be available?
Only in extenuating circumstances.
CHI encourages parents to travel to
